Founded in 1988 Becerrita is about a ten-minute walk from the centre, along the inner ring road that runs along the former city walls of Sevilla. Moving with the times, the small tapas bar section as you enter has been expanded to include the first dining room, which now has glass-topped tables instead of table cloths and a lighter, more casual atmosphere. There are several other full-service dining rooms, including a private room for two all overseen by front of house team Pepe and Rafa. There is also a small sidewalk terrace and private parking is available.
Service is very attentive and professional without being stuffy. Owner Jesús Becerra, who took over the restaurant from his father, is a perfect host and is always ready to welcome you with a warm smile and a handshake. There’s a solid wine list with several options by the glass, and daily specials, which will explain why some of the food you see in the photos here might not always be available. The menu, like the décor, is a wonderful blend of traditional with innovative touches. Try the oxtail croquettes, pillowy tortilla de patata buñuelos, and the garlicky grilled beef “Señor Marqués”. Throughout the year they host special gastronomic events such as “croqueta week” or “ensaladilla week”, so look out for those.
